During of the sixth edition of Milano Digital Week, The Astronut installed the site-specific artwork “The Sound Garden: Out of Sight” in collaboration with Soundreef. The Sound Art installation is an immersive experience that uses spatialized and geolocated audio in augmented reality.
The intent of the site-specific artwork “The Sound Garden: Out of Sight” is to illustrate the effects of human action on the planet, and consequently, on the urban environment and its relationship with survival itself. It offers a “solution” through artistic awareness, at a time when the educational, social, and didactic function of art has become extremely relevant again, in light of the major emergencies of modern times.
The sound metaverse of the artwork, within its defined space, aims to transcend the limits of that very space by stimulating the senses and the consciousness of the viewer, telling us, through symbols and metaphors, how it is possible to be reborn from the very disaster that humanity itself has created. With this installation, the artist extracts the first act of their work “Nothing Personal,” a broader epic about the history of the relationship between humanity, civilization, society, the environment, and power throughout history. The application will allow users to fully immerse themselves in the audio environment of the installation, where spheres—an iconic element of the artist’s work—will be visible in Augmented Reality and Audio. The audience will thus be immersed in a sound metaverse, moving freely through the space and approaching the various sound emission points, which are the sources of the sound narrative featured in the artwork.
During the use of the app, no personal data will be collected, and the installation will be accessible 24 hours a day.
